慟! “永別的 黑名單勇士” 李應元壺腹癌病逝享壽68歲

前駐泰代表李應元，11日晚間驚傳病逝台大醫院，李應元因壺腹癌轉移病逝，消息傳至政壇，台南市長黃偉哲在臉書貼出李應元燦爛笑容的「黑白」照片，留言說：「悼老戰友 李應元前輩（1953-2021）心心念念為臺灣。」不少網友也留言，希望「李應元前輩，任務完成，一路好走。」
其實李應元從泰國返回台灣治療後，已昏迷一個月，這兩天病情急轉直下，11號晚間辭世、家人也感到錯愕，預計遺體將移往台北第二殯儀館。
李應元1953年出生於雲林縣崙背鄉，以第2名成績考進台灣大學公共衛生研究所；不過，在美國期間，他因從事海外獨立運動被列黑名單。
李應元涉入政壇後，曾任立委，雲林縣副縣長、行政院秘書長、勞委會主委、環保署長、駐美副代表等重要職務。
2020年蔡總統連任後，李應元重回政壇被派駐泰國，開創出許多外交成果，不過，今年8月因病請辭駐泰代表，返台治療，卻仍不敵病魔。
