「原臺南刑務所木造建築群」去年4月展開修復工程。
位於本市中西區文史核心地區的「原臺南刑務所木造建築群」在歷經四年爭取後，順利於去年4月展開整體修復工程。目前全區解體調查作業已接近完成，其中「刑務所浴場」在解體調查過程中發現完整的「浴池」相關遺構，更進一步呈現日據時期的獄政公務生活空間，頗具意義。
文資處表示「刑務所浴場」過去因過度增建與裝修，在展開修復前已損壞嚴重。原本修復團隊預計「浴場」解體後原有空間與構造留存比例有限，殊不知過程中發現完整的男女湯浴池，包含池底小口磚、池壁磁磚、收邊轉角磚、舊有輸水管與水閥等完整建築細節，保留程度相當完整。相信搭配妥適的解說系統，將有助於更了解當時的獄政公務空間與生活型態。
「原臺南刑務所木造建築群」預計114年4月完工。
「原臺南刑務所木造建築群」共分為三區5棟，分別是磚木造共構，俗稱典獄長宿舍的「所長宿舍」、雙併建築型制保存完整且留有棟札的「刑務所官舍」、作為該時期武道練習場地的「刑務所要道館」、作為公共澡堂使用的「刑務所浴場」，以及口字型配置的單身宿舍「刑務所合宿」。與鄰近的「國定古蹟臺南地方法院」交相反映司法與獄政分權發展，頗具意義。
「原臺南刑務所木造建築群」修復經費共計新臺幣1億6,000萬元整，中央補助新臺幣1億40萬元整，市政府負擔三成計新臺幣5,960萬元整，已於111年4月開工，預計114年6月竣工，修復後可與「國定古蹟臺南地方法院」型塑司法園區，並雙向串聯「藍晒圖文創園區」、「臺南美術館園區」與「孔廟文化園區」，打造更優質、深度的文史觀光路線。
