立法委員周春米到吾拉魯茲參加南島-屏東2022南島民族論壇，對於屏東原住民以及原住民族土地議題，都是以最謹慎，最嚴肅的態度來面對。
周春米表示，民進黨政府於2016重新執政後，推動轉型正義事宜以及轉型正義條例，除了面對過去威權時期對人民不當的壓迫及對財產的剝奪，更將原住民族土地返還、傳統領域認定，納入議題。

周春米指出，屏東原住民族人口有6萬餘人，每一次拜訪原鄉，每一次參加原住民族的活動，都是以最謙卑的態度學習，目前屏東縣已經有排灣族及魯凱族本位的教材，她協助爭取的學校老舊廁所和操場改善，以及新建風雨球場，都要求教育部及廠商要加入當地原住民族特色，文化、教育，越在地越國際。
周春米強調，原住民族土地蘊含文化、生態知識，對台灣的環境治理與人地哲學，有高度啟發，能夠創造整體社會公共利益，論壇研究者透過對傳統領域田野調查的經驗與研究，進而提出台灣當前結合原住民生態知識，於環境治理的嘗試與進展。她也會加強推廣屏東排灣族及魯凱族文化，輔導農林產業升級。
