昨（15）日上午，賴清德在前屏東縣縣長潘孟安陪同下前往中央黨部，登記黨內總統初選。全程面帶微笑，充滿自信，並在完成手續後發表簡短談話。
賴清德表示：「以無比堅定的心，參與民進黨總統初選，希望爭取黨內同志以及台灣人民的支持，站在第一線率領團隊，建設國家、升級經濟、造福人民、並且打擊黑、金、槍、毒，建立和諧安定公益的社會，讓年輕人看見希望、壯年人實現夢想、老年人得到幸福、弱勢者也得到照顧。」
賴清德強調：「請給我機會帶領國家，團結國人，一起拚經濟、護民主、強國防、保和平，共同完成守護台灣，促進民主、和平、繁榮的新時代使命。」
作為資深統一獅迷，賴清德引用經典賽應援的口號為台灣加油：「此時此刻，我們都是台灣隊，Team Taiwan，挺台灣，一起讓台灣成為民主世界的 MVP！」
外界盛傳駐美代表蕭美琴是可能的副手人選（圖＿賴清德臉書）。
至於賴清德的副手人選，外界盛傳駐美代表蕭美琴是可能的熱門人選，能補足賴清德在外交關係的不足。日前，前總統陳水扁表示，副手人選還沒有定於一尊，他認為也有可能是前文化部長鄭麗君。鄭麗君曾是陳水扁總統任內的青輔會主委，陳水扁對他讚譽有加，語帶肯定地說「鄭麗君條件很好，並不會輸給蕭美琴。」
賴清德率領民進黨打贏南投立委補選，聲勢高漲。而行政院長陳建仁動向也成為外界關注焦點。對此，陳建仁前（14）日赴備詢時遭國民黨立委江啟臣追問，是否想參選2024總統？陳建仁堅定否認。
