籌備8年、斥資30億元打造的「嘉義in89豪華影城」，今(17)日舉辦開幕記者會，嘉義市長黃敏惠、立委王美惠、議長莊豐安、影城董事長蔡榮華等多位貴賓，一起體驗「世界級」影視規格，直呼「好震撼」！曾為日本時代「二代南座」、戰後「國民戲院」，百年後原址重現戲院風華，頗具人文意義。

黃敏惠指出，8年前蔡榮華董事長承諾在嘉義市投資，打造具有國際級水準的電影夢想館。以地方首長的角度是喜憂參半，在「歡迎又期待」之餘，也擔心會遇到各種困難，過程中市府全力協助，感謝蔡董事長與團隊的堅持努力，讓「嘉義in89豪華影城」在最艱困時刻正式開幕，這就是台灣人的精神。

黃敏惠提及，「嘉義in89豪華影城」的前身是「國民戲院」，曾與同學在這看電影，擁有不少青春回憶。當時成仁街還有羅山及三山等戲院，猶如台北西門町電影街熱鬧非凡。「嘉義in89豪華影城」不僅是嘉雲區首座，也是全台唯一一座同時擁有IMAX、LUXE、MX4D三大電影規格的影城，一次囊括了3大極致觀賞科技，全視野的新一代「IMAX」雷射巨幕廳、李安導演都稱讚的3D終極螢幕「LUXE」雷射4K巨幕廳、不僅滿足視覺還能模擬實感環境特效的「MX4D」動感廳，此外，還貼心規劃親子影廳，有草皮、兒童專屬座椅；Coach躺椅廳更是情侶的最愛，頂級的視聽享受、多種電影版本及特色影廳，一次滿足各類族群、影迷需求。

影城董事長蔡榮華表示，感謝黃敏惠市長與市府團隊全力支持，「嘉義in89豪華影城」占地面積約600坪，建物為地下3層、地上8層，頂樓營造城市綠洲概念，總樓地板面積約3,500坪，樓高49.9公尺，共規劃9個影廳、約1,200個席位，獻給所有愛好電影的好朋友們。
