111年1月10日8時許於國道3號北向384.8公里處發生重大交通事故，造成1死1傷。
本案經1968通報，8時13分消防車及救護車抵達，8時15分本大隊編號573巡邏車抵達現場，另緩撞車於8時21分抵達現場警戒。
被掉落輪胎砸中自小客車事故現場
經查證用路人(洪男、64年次)駕駛自用半聯結車載運回收物品，於國道3號北向384.8公里處行駛在南向車道，疑因車輪脫落(左側第一軸)，彈飛至對向車道砸向用路人(黃男、69年次)駕駛自小客貨車，造成1死1傷。自小客車駕駛送義大醫院救治，乘客(黃女、60年次)當場死亡。
肇事之半聯結車
自小客車駕駛與乘客為夫妻關係，行車動線為屏東至台南，竹田分隊表示半聯結車與自小客車駕駛雙方均無酒測值，有關肇事車輛輪胎脫落之違規事實將依道路交通管理處罰條例第33條第1項第16款規定製單舉發。
