屏東縣政府為守護海洋環境，特培訓縣政府環保局員工成為潛海戰將投入淨海活動，於昨(8)日「國家海洋日」成軍，並號召潛海戰將志工及在地潛水業者共襄盛舉參與海底垃圾清除，同時結合恆春區漁會環保艦隊進行海漂垃圾打撈作業，公私部門一起攜手於恆春鎮後壁湖海域辦理淨海活動，總計約51人下水參與，還給屏東海域潔淨的海洋環境。

屏東縣政府環保局表示，6月8日是世界海洋日，同時也是台灣第三屆「國家海洋日」，本縣目前所招募的潛海艦隊已超過700艘，潛海戰將計有169位，海底垃圾是最不易清除的海洋廢棄物，屏東縣政府環保局特培訓局內12位同仁成為潛海戰將，加入海底垃圾清除行列。本日於恆春鎮後壁湖海域淨海成果共計清除32公斤海洋垃圾，其中一般垃圾23公斤，可回收廢棄物佔約9公斤，守護海洋成果豐碩。
縣長潘孟安表示，淨海活動除達清除海洋廢棄物的目的，更是親身感受海洋廢棄物對環境的嚴重威脅，縣政府為減少海洋廢棄物，不僅對外招募潛海戰將，更從自身做起培訓海洋潛水志工，以實際行動守護海洋，並持續推廣全國首創「海廢帶回 漁獲自肥」活動，鼓勵漁民攜回海上作業產生的廢棄物，及潛水愛好者從事水下活動時隨手帶回所見到的海洋垃圾，皆可到本縣23處漁港安檢所兌換屏東在地農產品。自今年2月15日活動起跑迄今逾3個月，海廢攜回量已達6,500公斤，讓海洋垃圾污染從「源頭減量」，希望有效減少海洋垃圾的堆積，降低對海洋環境生態的衝擊，也呼籲民眾共同加入守護海洋志工的行列。
