2月21日「世界母語日」市議員李啟維也呼籲比照中英文編列正式母語老師。
2月21日「世界母語日」，為紀念母語日台南市議員李啟維，也在母語日展現保護母語的決心，呼籲比照中英文編列正式母語老師。
台灣母語因為主客觀因素面臨強大生存危機，更被聯合國列為瀕臨滅亡消失語言，李啟維表示保護母語已成國際潮流，台灣母語每況愈下，使用母語的家庭越來越少，會講母語的年輕人比例越來越低，台灣母語消失速度比想像中嚴重，最主要原因台灣母語被排除教育體制之外，沒有像其它語文正式母語老師編制，這對號稱文化古都或紀念母語日都是一大諷刺。
李啟維指出政府既然已通過語言發展法，各種語言教學發展應平等對待，不應以因為少子化超額老師增加，沒有經費為理由，何況台南市不如其它縣市，沒有任何一位正式編制母語老師實在講不過去。
