聲帶萎縮的狀況並不少見。聲帶萎縮會引起聲帶的厚度和彈性減少，以至於無法有效地振動產生聲音。聲帶萎縮可能與年齡、荷爾蒙變化、吸菸、慢性發炎等因素有關。
不同的聲音問題可使用多種方式來解決，像是藥物治療或語言治療來改善，也可以使用手術(喉直達內視鏡顯微手術)或是較新穎的局部聲帶注射治療，但仍應由耳鼻喉科專科醫師診斷後給予對應治療。
