牙周病是人工植牙的頭號殺手 不可忽視！

57歲黃女士，4年前因多顆牙齒鬆動、刷牙易出血、吃東西沒有力量而求診牙醫診所，牙醫師診斷黃女士為嚴重牙周病，所以轉診至奇美醫學中心牙醫部牙周病科主治醫師曹瑞彬門診進行專業全口牙周病治療，經醫師全口放射線檢查與牙周檢查後，發現黃女士多顆後牙伴隨嚴重牙周骨破壞、鬆動合併牙齦自發性出血，故建議黃女士進行全口牙周病治療，並教導口腔衛生教育與合適的刷牙工具及方法，拔除預後無望的牙齒，後續再進行全口重建。接受適當牙周病治療與人工植牙重建後，現在刷牙不再容易流血，飲食生活品質得到明顯改善，目前牙周與植牙狀況穩定，持續牙周病定期照護中。

曹瑞彬指出，「牙周病」在臺灣的成年人盛行率可能高達8成以上，牙周病的症狀包含牙齦流血、牙齒鬆動、口臭、牙齦膿腫甚至牙齒脫落。牙周病早期並不會造成明顯的不舒服，因此常常會被一般民眾乎略或是害怕看牙醫而錯過寶貴的治療時間，建議民眾應每半年進行牙齒檢查與洗牙，以利早期發現疾病早期治療。
近年來植牙治療重建缺失的牙齒已相當普偏，但如果在植牙治療前沒有妥善進行牙周病檢查與治療，易導致人工植牙後植體周圍炎的發生。根據美國與歐州牙周病專家共識會議中指出：「牙周病史」、「不適當的牙菌斑控制習慣」、「未定期回診」是植體周圍炎的風險因子，因此建議民眾在進行人工植牙重建缺牙前，應先進行牙周病檢查與治療，才能讓植牙在口內維持健康。

曹瑞彬說明，雖然人工植牙的材質不同於自然牙，有著較不易蛀牙的特性，因此也讓許多病人輕忽未善待植牙，認為不需要保養，但其實並不然，應如同自然牙一樣皆需清潔維護，用心對待，以免植牙後因細菌感染惡化導致植體周圍炎，造成植體脫落、植牙失敗。
