10月19日早上5時許，一輛自小客車行駛在屏東縣滿洲鄉屏200線上，現場施工路段有佈設紐澤西護欄等交維警示措施，但駕駛疑似車速過快及未注意車前狀況，自撞紐澤西護欄後墜入施工坑洞中。警消人員到場時，駕駛已自行脫困離開現場.

因肇事逃逸經恆春分局通知其到案說明，朱姓駕駛自稱因手機不在身上，經家屬上山找尋才得知並於10月22日至分局製作筆錄，肇事當日開車前有食用薑母鴨及飲用啤酒，因車速過快且未注意車前狀況，不慎撞擊路邊工區安全護欄而掉入施工坑洞，朱姓駕駛因身體不適，也擔心會有酒精反應，故離開現場，恆春警方已依行車路線調閱監視器查證，回溯告發相關交通違規行為，並依公共危險、毀損等罪嫌移送偵辦。
恆春分局分局長林明波表示，酒後駕車已觸犯法律，本案更涉及肇事逃逸，呼籲駕駛朋友切勿酒後駕車，不慎肇事時應立即報警處理，勿存僥倖心理，警方必會依法查辦究責；另也提醒用路人行經施工路段請放慢速度小心行駛，注意管制措施與指示，以免發生意外。
